Purpose of this notice
First Actuarial LLP (referred to as “First Actuarial”, “we”, “us” or “our” in this privacy notice) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data.
This privacy notice gives you information on how we collect and process your personal data when you use our website, sign up to our newsletters, attend one of our events or are part of one of our marketing campaigns.

We may also hold data about you on behalf of another party. This is most likely to occur where you are a member of a pension scheme and we work for the trustees or the employer of that scheme. Data Controller
First Actuarial LLP is the “data controller” of the personal information collected. This means we are responsible for deciding what personal data about you is needed and how it should be protected.

We may also hold “special category” personal data such as health information where it is needed to ensure we can meet your needs when you attend one of our events.
How is your personal data collected?
We may collect your personal data from:
- Your interactions with our website.
- A purchased mailing list. We only purchase mailings lists that you have consented to be included on.
- You, where you have signed up to our newsletters mailing lists.
- You, because you are an existing client, professional contact or a potential client and we believe you may have an interest in our services.
- Publicly available sources where we believe you may have an interest in our services.
How we use your personal data
We are required to have a lawful reason for processing your personal data. The lawful reasons we use are:
- You have consented to us using your personal data. We use this lawful reason when you sign up for our newsletters. We also use this reason where you provide special category data to enable us to meet your specific needs. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
- We have a legal obligation to process your data. We use this lawful reason where we are required to adapt our services to meet your specific needs.
- We have a legitimate interest in promoting and expanding our business. We use this lawful reason for processing information related to your use of our website, for marketing campaigns, for events and for surveys.
Our use of Cookies
When you visit our website, we may place cookies on your device to ensure the smooth running of our website. All the cookies we use are essential to the running of our website.
We do not use tracking cookies.
Who do we share information with?
We will not transfer control of your personal data to any third-party.
We may ask another party to process your personal on our behalf. When we do this, we retain control of your personal data.
Transfers outside the United Kingdom
First Actuarial does not process your personal data outside the United Kingdom (UK).
Where a third-party supplier processes data on our behalf, we will require them to process data within the UK where possible. If a third-party supplier needs to process data outside the UK, we will take all reasonable necessary steps to make sure that such data is treated securely.
Data Security
We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal data on our instructions, and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.
We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.
How long do we keep your data?
We will only retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for.
Where you have consented to receiving our newsletters, we will keep your data until you withdraw your consent. You may do at this by using the link at the bottom of our newsletters.
Where we are conducting a marketing campaign and your personal data was been obtained from a public source (for example, a website) then we will retain your personal data for no longer than one year after the campaign.
Where your data has come from a purchased mailing list then your data will be kept until the end of any licence period (typically one year). You may ask us to stop processing your data at any time.
Sli.do
At some events we may use sli.do for quizzes. The use of sli.do is optional. If you choose to use sli.do then their privacy notice will apply: https://www.slido.com/terms#privacy-statement .
We will delete any responses within 1 month of the event.
Your duty to inform us of changes
It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal data changes during your relationship with us. If you wish to review and/or update personal data we hold about you, please contact us using the details below.
Your rights
You may ask for a copy of the information we hold on you. You may make this request by contacting us.
If, at any point, you believe the information we hold on you is wrong, you can ask us to correct it.
In some circumstances, you may also have a right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing or to transfer or erase your personal data. If you wish to raise a complaint on how we handle your personal data, you can contact us, to have the matter investigated. If you are not satisfied with our response or believe the way we are processing your personal data is not in accordance with the law you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
